On 25th October, in Breast Cancer Awareness Month an awareness walk and a seminar with title “Pretty in Pink” was organized at Dr. Ziauddin Hospital, Oncology campus. Many of the employees and students of Murshid Hospital and Murshid School of Nursing & Midwifery participated in the event. Dr Shireen Mansoor, M.S. DZH (North), chief guest of the event congratulated organizers on arranging the event and thanked the participants for their enthusiastic response.
Pakistan has the highest number of breast cancer patients across Asia. Around 40,000 women lose their lives every year in Pakistan due to breast cancer. The reason of wide spreading of breast cancer are still unknown. The best protection against breast cancer is the early detection. It is recommended to perform screening mammogram every 2-3 years in women 40 years or older. changes in lifestyle like having healthy diet, excercise and breast feeding may help in decreasing breast cancer incidence.
