Laboratory services of Murshid Hospital provide quality investigation results through practiced quality control and its effort for accurate and precise results. Both Laboratory and the Blood bank are managed by an experienced pathologist. The objective is to provide effective and prompt service required by our physicians.

The Department of Laboratory is an independent service that aims to provide a high standard of patient care. At present, there are total 11 faculty members on board. In addition, there are three trainees who are also working in the laboratory. The laboratory operates 24hrs and seven days a week. The laboratory handles approx. 8000 tests monthly for the hospital. At the moment no test is being done for external doctors or hospitals.

Quality Control

To maintain the creditably of laboratory findings it is essential to establish an efficient quality control program with calibrators and controls. The lab operates in three shifts with senior technicians in each. The Murshid Hospital lab will soon be registered with AFIP and later it aims to register with RIQAS. Educational Programmes

The Department offers a one-year Residency Training Programme, which is recognized by the Sindh Board. Every year four to five residents complete this programme and they are now working at different hospitals within and outside Pakistan. The programme has gained a reputation for being an excellent training programme in Laboratory in the country which has a number of renowned faculty as supervisors.

The Department also runs a comprehensive teaching and training programme (rotation based) for Laboratory technicians and undergraduate medical students.
