Murshid 136 Graduates Received Diplomas & Certificates
MHHCC (Thr., 25th Jan, ’18): Murshid School of Nursing & Midwifery organized its Convocation Ceremony-2018 on 25th January, 2018 on the lush green garden of Murshid Hospital & Health Care Centre to award the diplomas to its two batches of graduates for the years 2012-15 and 2013-16. A total of 136 graduates received their Diplomas and Certificates in toto.
The eminent educationist from the country Prof. M. Saeed Quraishy, the honorable Vice-Chancellor, DUHS was the Chief Guest. Mr. Sabir Zaidi, Management Representative for Murshid Hospital on behalf of Mr. Abdul Razzak Jaffer, Chairman BOGs, MHHCC presided over. A large number of stalwarts relating to nursing practices and education from the city which included Dr. David Arthur, Daen, Aga Khan University School of Nursing & Midwifery, Dr. Tazeen Saeed Ali Associate Professor & Assistant Dean, Research & Graduate Studies, AKUH, SONAM, Ms. Khairunnisa Rukunuddin, Controller SNEB attended. As the academic procession entered and the grandaunts and faculty settled in their seats, the proceedings started with the recitation from the Holy Quran.
Dr. A. Sattar Essa Jaffer delivered the welcome address which included the history of MHHCC and SONAM which now have the over a three decades for service and education in this part of underprivileged areas of Karachi City.
Ms. Rozina Jalaluddin, Principal Murshid SONAM then delivered the “Convocation Address”. In the very warm words, she congratulated all the graduates saying “your success is our success”. She also paid the special tributes to the SONAM Faculty. The Principal offered her special gratitude to the patrons and donors of School of Nursing. She thanked to Mr. Mansoor Ghuamali Habib and Mr. S. A. Majid for constituting the scholarships in memory of their beloved parents. These scholarships are awarded to our deserving and brilliant students to help them complete their education. During her Convocation Speech, she very proudly informed the august gathering for having received the affiliation for post-RN BSN (2-Year) from DUHS. The Murshid CON would be starting the four-year Generic BSN Program and M.Sc in Nursing Program in future.
The Chief Guest, Prof. M. Saeed Quraishy while addressing the graduates congratulated to the nursing and midwifery graduates. You have just received the first professional degree. You have to go a long way developing yourselves in this profession. Eulogizing the standard and atmosphere at Murshid SONAM, he remarked, it is of very high standards. I am really surprised to see. He once again reiterated his commitment to support the management of SONAM for turning it into the College of Nursing. DUHS will always be there to provide all guidance to Murshid CON. Congratulating the graduates on their success, Prof. Saeed Quraishy concluded.
This was followed by the distribution of degrees to the present graduates. Those who graduated in two sessions included 56 Nurses, 34 Nurse Midwives, 39 Pupil Midwives and 07 received the MHHCC’s Aid Nurse Certificates. Attired in traditional regalias, the graduates came to the rostrum to receive their diplomas and certificates as their names were called. The honorable Chief Guest with Principal, Dr. Sattar Jaffer & Mr. Sabir Zaidi standing next to him conferred the “Award of Excellence” to the brilliant students.
Shields as the “Token of Remembrance” to all the distinguished guests and “Token of Appreciation” were presented to all the Faculty and Staff including the organizing committee by the honorable Chief Guest.
Prof. Kaleemullah Thahim, Chairman, Academic Council, MHHCC offered the vote of thanks to the honorable chief guests, distinguished guests and all the participants. He paid rich tributes to Prof. Saeed Quraishy on his special interests for making the Murshid SONAM into College of Nursing for starting the Post-RN BSN program.
Later, Mr. Asif Jooma, Chief Executive Officer, ICI Pakistan Ltd., formally inaugurated the Skill Lab of Murshid SONAM which was updated through the courtesy of ICI.
